DAY 1 – TANGIER – HERCULES CAVES – TETUAN
The route begins in Tangier, a city in northern Morocco that is usually the entrance to this country. This is where you begin to feel the mystique of Africa. The old medina is very interesting and the views over the sea very attractive. On the way to Tetouan, just 14 km south of Tangier, there is a surprise. The Grotto of Hercules provides a very beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean through an opening, whose shape is reminiscent of an inverted map of Africa. There was a human presence in this cave about 7000 years before J.C. According to legend, Hercules stayed here after he separated Europe from Africa.
DAY 2 – TETUAN – CHEFCHAOUEN
The Hispano-Moorish city of Tetouan is a mixture of cultures. The medina is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a beautiful and authentic place, with markets in the streets, leather tanning and a lot of life. In the mellah (Jewish quarter), also called the Little Jerusalem, the guilds are very well defined. Tetouan is known for its importance for the crafts. It is necessary to visit the Museum of Moroccan Arts to know them better. Another important cultural building is the Archaeological Museum.
DAY 3 – CHEFCHAOUEN
There are many unforgettable places in Morocco, but when you enter the interior of the medina of Chefchaouen you will immediately fall in love with its blue colors and relaxed atmosphere. The view of the Rif mountains, the castle and the washerwomen’s area also contribute to forming a very strong memory of this unique place.
