10 Days from Tanger Fes Merzouga and Marrakech

Day 1: Arrival to Tangier – Chauen.

Route through Morocco from Tangier. Arrival in Tangier on your own, reception at the airport or port, depending on the time of arrival, if it is in the morning, we will go on an excursion to one of the most popular tourist attractions around Tangier, is the cave of Hercules, The cave has two openings, one towards the land and another towards the sea, this last one has the form of the African continent, its form is known as “The Map of Africa” the cave is made with the erosion of the wind and the sea, and also it has been used for the extraction of stones for mills.

After the visit of the cave, we will continue by car into the Rif mountains to arrive in Chauen where we have accommodation in a Riad.

Day 2: Chauen – Fez.

After breakfast, we will have free time to visit the city, Chauen or Chechaouen was founded in 1471 on the site of a Berber population, its original population was composed of Muslims and Jews exiled from Al-Andalus, for centuries, Chauen was a city considered sacred, entry was prohibited to foreigners.

After the visit of Chauen, we will continue to the Roman ruins of Volubilis, then to Meknes, one of the four Imperial Cities of Morocco next to Fes – Marrakech and the current capital of the country Rabat, we will have lunch in Meknes and make a guided tour of the monumental door of Bab el Mansour, the Royal Stables, the Jewish quarter the Square El Hdim and a part of the medina. In the afternoon night we will finish in Fes where we have hired Dinner and accommodation in a Riad.

Day 3: Fez.

Day dedicated to the guided tour of Fez. Intellectual and craft capital of Morocco, one of the strengths of the route through Morocco from Tangier.

Fes is the pearl of the Arab world, the place of great sensations where travelers come to seek the treasure of a civilization, the richness of a varied and generous life to the profusion, the medina of Fes (old town) is where the sensuality of the sun, colors and flavors reign.

After the visit, we will return to the same Riad. (dinner is not included).

Day 4: Merzouga.

Breakfast and departure to the desert leaving behind the bustle of the big cities and we find a friendly and quiet population, which is dedicated to grazing and agriculture.
We will pass through the towns of Ifran and Azrou in the Middle Atlas Mountains, along the road a stop is a must in the Cedar forest where we will observe a sub-population of Barbary macaques that live there.
We go into the High Atlas Mountains to Errachidia passing through the Gorges and the Ziz Valley, later we will arrive in Erfoud and then Merzouga where we will stay in a hotel at the foot of the dunes.

Day 5: Merzouga – Erg chebbi.

Breakfast and departure from the hotel, today we invite you to live strong emotions and to raise the adrenaline in 4×4 by the dunes and one of the tracks they used in the Paris-Dakar Rally. We will pass through some desert plateaus towards the other side of the dunes visiting the Oasis of Merzouga, the nomadic lands and the village of Khamlia (where black people from Mali live).

We will return to the hostel for lunch, and rest. In the afternoon, we continue the adventure on the back of camels that will slowly take us to the camp through the wide expanse of golden sand enjoying the wonderful landscape that offers us the sunset in the desert. Tonight we will sleep in the dunes in nomad tents (haimas), and enjoy a Berber dinner with music and appreciate the spirit of the desert with an indescribable starry sky as rarely seen.

Day 6: Merzouga – Risani – Todra Gorges – Dades Gorges.

Today we must get up early and climb to the top of a dune to see the sunrise, breakfast and continue towards the Dades Gorges, we will stop in Rissani, if it is market day we will visit.
We will then continue to reach the famous Todra Gorges, one of the strongest points of southern Morocco, a favourite place for climbers and hikers, free time for lunch and a walk, and in the afternoon we will finish our tour in the Dades Gorges.
Dinner and accommodation in hotel.

Day 7: Dades Gorges – Skoura – Ouarzazate.

Breakfast and departure to the Dades Valley by the Route of the thousand kasbahs, we continue along a road that leads to the valley of the roses, thousands and thousands of roses that perfume the Kelaa M’gouna in the season between March and May, when the festival of the roses, dances and horseback riding follow each other under an uninterrupted rain of petals.

We will pass by Skoura which is a large palm grove, state of most of the kasbahs which are in a deplorable state, the most important of them, is the Kasbah of Amredil, we will visit the Kasbah and then continue towards Ouarzazate, and in the afternoon we will end up in a Berber village where we will spend the night in a family’s house and have the opportunity to take a Moroccan cooking class. (it is possible to sleep in a hotel with dinner and breakfast).

Day 8: Ouarzazate – Marrakech.

Breakfast and departure to Marrakech, through the port of Tizi n’tichka, about 2,260 meters high, the highest pass of the roads of Morocco.
On route we will visit the famous kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, which has been declared a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO and is undoubtedly the best preserved fortified village (ksar) in southern Morocco.
Arrival in Marrakech in the late afternoon. Accommodation in Riyadh.

Day 9: Marrakech.

A day dedicated to the visit of the red city, Marrakech, starting with the gardens of the Ménara with its pond, the Saadian tombs where are buried the founders of the city, the Palace of the Bay residence of the former vizier, the Koutoubia splendid minaret of the Great Mosque, the Madrasa ben Yousef to finish in the famous Djemaa El Fna Square the heart of the medina of Marrakech, in the morning is a great souk, and at night a magical spectacle.

Accommodation in the same Riad. For those who want, it is possible to enjoy a public Hamam, ( steam bath).

Day 10: Departure from Marrakech to the airport.

Breakfast at the Riad, and free time until the time of departure to the airport, transfer and End of our service.
